260th Meeting of FADA Council

FADA Council held its 260th meeting on 18th April 2012 at New Delhi. The meeting, held after long interval, had a crammed agenda for consideration.

Council reviewed the conduct and outcome of Auto Summit 2012 organised on 9th & 10th January 2012 at New Delhi. The meeting was gratified by the tremendous success of the Summit in all aspects- be it the magnitude of participation, quality of deliberations, relevance of subjects and the stature of speakers. However, it was felt that the programme of Auto Summit 2012 was too crammed. The programme of Auto Summits to be organised in future should be spaced out and the social event like musical/ cultural evening should be an integral part of the programme to enable participants unwind and relax after hardcore business deliberations.

Other major decisions taken by Council

  • FADA should step up networking with its sister organisations in other countries for sharing of information and practices. This will lead to the introduction of the best practices in auto retail business in India. Nikunj Sanghi, President, FADA has already established networking with auto retail organisations in other countries in the course of his recent visit and participation at the NADA Convention during February 2012 in Las Vegas, USA. He will continue to lead FADA's efforts in this regard;
  • FADA should protest and oppose the recent guidelines of General Insurance Council stipulating the segregation of paint and labour costs for settlement of motor insurance claims arising out of the repainting of damaged vehicles, which is against the larger interest of customer;
  • FADA should appear before the Competition Commission of India and give facts and information, as desired by the Commission;
  • A small committee headed by Mukesh Jain, Hony Treasurer should look into the proposal from Homestead, a real estate development company that is developing car malls at various places pan India and has sought FADA's support in promoting the project among automobile dealers across the country; and
  • FADA should look for a bigger or additional space for its office in view of its expanding activities and Secretariat.
